Comments (15)Well have convinced ourselves to get the Miele. I've read all the postings. I was getting tires on my car and in the Maul I looked in at Sears and Best Buy. Then I went to Barons and looked at the Miele. I have some questions but that is another thread. Thanks cat_mom I could live with the Bosch but I wouldn't like it either. sushipup we are getting a Miele. I like sushi too. burntfingers good choice the Asko is a fine machine, a lot of people love them. It had a lot of appeal to me also. rococogurl thanks for the comments, I have a feeling it will all work out for us. dfpotterri I looked at the Boschs and their are differences. But I just couldn't go for it. I really like the utensil tray. attofarad our 21 year old kenmore worked better than we knew. We could just fix it, I'm thinking of fixing when the Miele comes in anyway. Just to it can be recycled. Thanks all....See MoreMiele Dishwashers - what can you use in them for dw detergent?
Comments (20)If I take the question by OP literally, the he/she is (was?) wondering which detergents can be used in the Miele DW. I bought my Miele ~8mo back and had exact same question before making the decision. The lady at the store where I placed an order spent some time with Miele customer support and came back that as long as you use powdered detergent, you can use any brand, just that they recommend using ~1-2 tsp for a full load. I currently use Seventh Gen, Trader Joe's and a bunch of other detergents without any issue (so far!) However, if you use tablets, since those are pre-measured quantities, they recommend using either 1 per load of Miele's own, OR half-per-load of Cascade brand. I did not ask about other brands because I never use tablets but I am sure Miele customer service will tell you how much to use. Hope this helps!...See MoreSaying goodbye to Miele :l Miele Optima Dishwasher leaking
Comments (44)Well the Miele is working again :) Thank goodness my hubby is handy. When he gets some extra time he will take the old pump apart and see what went wrong ( it had to be a seal). Giving some thought to why would the seal go so soon, I am considering using powder detergent, instead of the Finish Powerball tabs. I did notice the last time I picked them up from Costco, the tabs are more concentrated now. The box claims 8x more concentrated. I am wondering if this could possibly be an issue. Since I have whole house softener, I thought I would programme the rinse agent to 2, instead of the default to 3. I will start there, since I can't remember the days before tab detergents, anymore. I think I will give Miele support a call tomorrow. I have read and re-read how to use the built-in softener, but I am a tad unsure how it really works with a whole house softener. I have my machine hooked-up to soft cold water. I live in an area with terribly hard water. 60 plus grains. I truly doubt I should programme the machine for 60 grains because of the whole house softener. As anyone who has a whole house softener, there can be days when the water is less soft (just before regeneration). I have never had any glass nor crystal etch in my machine with either powder nor tabs. I am pleased the machine is once again working. I just now have to play with detergent and rinse agent to find a happy medium of sparkling without eating my machine seals....See MoreEric
